FAQ

Q: My ftp server is behind a router/firewall, how could it work for users connecting from outside?
A:
In Domain settings - > Router/firewall, you should set item "Router/Firewall's WAN IP or Domain" to router/firewall's WAN IP, also note the passive port range in Server Settings - > General, you should properly set your router/firewall, open the port 21 and ports in the passive port range, make it forward all packets on these ports to your server computer.

Q: I set server listen ip to "any ip available", how to know my server computer's current IP address?
A:
In Windows, click Start -> Run, type "cmd.exe", this opens the command console window. In the command window, type "ipconfig /all", all IPs on your computer are shown.

Q: What's the difference between Standard Edition and Professional Edition?
A:
In data trasnfering Nofeel FTP Server support 128-bit encryption. Generally RSA key length implies the SSL certificate secure intensity. Nofeel FTP Server Professional Edition supports 1024-bit key and 2048-bit key. For most users 1024-bit key is enough, if you would like, you can also choose 2048-bit key to generate your server's certificate file.

Q: How many connections it can support?
A:
No limit. Actually it is restricted by Windows sockets number restriction, or your Windows OS or hardware restriction like physical memory size.

Q: Can it run as NT service?
A:
Yes, the service engine runs as an NT Service, you may exit the administration program while leaving engine running background.

Q: Can it support NT domain authentication?
A:
Yes, Nofeel FTP Server supports NT domain Authentication.

Q: I set account to use NT authentication, but it seems always authenticate failed?
A:
This case would happen on some Windows 2000 system, generally it is because service engine process has not enough permission. To resolve the problem, you may open Local Security Settings in Control Panel -> Administrative Tools, in Local Policies -> User Right Assignment, double click item "Act as part of operating system", add the account "SYSTEM" or "Administrator" to it.

Q: In service window the engine service auto started when Windows start, but the server doesn't start, i have to open administration program to start it.
A:
In menu Edit -> Options -> General, set item "Server Start" to "Auto when system start".

Q: My users use IE, they can not browse my ftp server normally.
A:
On default IE uses active mode, you may set it to use passive mode and try. In Internet Settings -> Advanced -> Browsing, check item "Use Passive FTP" to open passive mode.

Q: How to import/export server configuration?
A:
Currently there is no function to do so, but all configuration are saved in "config" folder and "cert" folder, you may backup and restore them manually.

Q: Current connections in the list is not consistent with the server statistics
A:
This is because you ignore some IPs' screen log in server settings, so connections from these IPs will not be shown in connections list.

Q: Why my ftp server administration start and stop slowly?
A:
Generally this is because server download files hits is too large (more than 5000 lines). You could clear all items in the download hits window.
