FAQ

Q:What shall I do after I create or update the Meta Tag?

A:Please note, the update function in the Meta Tag Editor only inserts the tag into your local HTML file on your PC, it does NOT update your web server automatically. You need to UPLOAD your web page files to your web server by using the FTP program after you crerate or modify your meta tags.

You can check the box at the bottom of Meta Tag Editor screen to add the modified HTML files to FTP Upload Manager before you click the "Update" button.

Then you need to upload the modified HTML file to your web server manually by using FTP Upload Clients.

Q:How many keywords can be entered for each web site?

A:You can enter up to 200 characters for keywords under the "Site Info" tab of the Dynamic Submission. This is because most search engines only accept 10 or 20 keywords or up to 200 characters. How many keywords can be entered depends on the Search Engines but not the software. If you enter more keywords than search engines allow, your submission will be rejected by the search engines. As a safety guard, Dynamic Submission will limit you to enter up to 200 characters for Keyword field, so that your submission will be accepted by all the search engines.

Q:What is Doorway Page?

A:Doorway page is also called entrance page, or information. Generally what it means is a web page that specifically designed contains more relavent keywords in a single page in order to rank higher in the spider search engines.

Common web pages usually are very board targeted and not themed around particular keywords or phrases because your average web pages are unfocused and not optimized properly.

A doorway page is a web page specifically designed to rank high in the Search Engines for a specific keyword or keyword phrase. Its NOT just a blank page with a link that redirects to your main page, but a powerful, content rich page packed with your keywords.

If you have web pages with specific subject areas, products, services or even localities then specific doorway pages can be created for each one, concentrating on the keyword content and meta tags specific to those pages. In this way, a travel site, for example, could create doorway pages for each of its destinations. A page specifically dedicated to search engine content for Los Angles, for example, will have a better chance in the search engine rankings than a page which tries to cover all bases - and be readable!

Search Engines generally give priority to URLs that contain keywords. It is therefore worthwhile considering the registration of keyword-rich domain names for your doorway pages. Using the above example, a doorway page for Los Angles could have the name www.los-angles-travel-tourism-tourist.com, remembering that these URLs are for Search Engines only and that customer information is still only found on your central site. Customers can enter at these doorway domain pages from Search Engines and then click-on to the central domain. Once the customer has arrived from the search engine the doorway page/URL has done its job.

Once you have selected your keywords and phrases (about 50 would be the normal) you need to build a doorway page for each keyword and ideally, for each major search engine. All the major engines look for different keyword density in the text, title and description so you need to do some research by doing a search using your chosen phrase or keyword and studying the top 10 results at each engine (if you can spot them, study high ranking doorway pages).

When you're ready to submit your pages to the Search Engines, submit only one page each day. If you've created several pages you'd like to submit, you may want to create an additional page that contains links to each of your doorway pages. That way, you can submit just your link page and let the Search Engines crawl the rest of your links.

Creating doorway pages is a powerful way to increase your website traffic, but don't stop at just one. Imagine how much traffic you'd receive with 100 keyword packed doorway pages all pointing to your website.

Q:What is Link Popularity?

A:Link popularity and click popularity are determined by each search engine. AltaVista may calculate a high popularity for your site, whereas Infoseek may calculate a low popularity for your site. Each search engine may also use the popularity information in different ways. It will all depend on their specific algorithms.
Popularity is becoming more widely used by search engines. Therefore, it is a very important consideration when trying to increase your ranks. Hypothetically, if you have two sites that have equal content and equal meta tags, then the site with more popularity will rank higher.

The link popularity of your site is determined by:
The number of web sites that are linking to your site (the web page that your link appears on, must be indexed by the search engine - just using those "free-for-all-links-pages" is not the kind of link that you're looking for.), The popularity of the sites are that are linking to your site and the similarity of the content on sites that link to your site. Link popularity is used by every search engine to some extent. Ways to increase link popularity will be discussed below.

Click popularity:

• Click popularity is the number of clicks that your site gets when it comes up on a search. So if your site is number 3 for a search, and it is being clicked on by people more than number 2, you can potentially move ahead of number 2. (If the engine uses click popularity in their algorithms.)
• Excite and Direct Hit use click popularity. Also, engines that are associated with Direct Hit, like Hotbot, indirectly use click popularity.
• 
  You can increase click popularity by having a good title and a good description of your website in your meta tags.

How to find out who's Linking to you:

Different search engine process differently

Google: Type into search box: link:www.yourdomain.com This will give you a general estimate of your popularity. It will also tell you approximately how many pages from your site are listed with google.

AltaVista: Type into search box: link:yourdomain.com This will give you all of the pages which link to you, the same as google.

AllTheWeb: Type into search box: link:yourdomain.com Again, this may give you some of the pages which are linking to you.

How to increase link popularity:

Reciprocal Links
There are varying opinions on whether or not to get reciprocal links and if you do, where you should put them. Here is our opinion - The internet is a web and it is joined by links. If you are offering good resources, people will bookmark your site and come back. If you aren't, they won't. Part of offering resources is suggesting other places to find information. We're not suggesting that you put links off your site on your home page, we're not suggesting that all you do is to provide a directory of other links.

We started with a one page resource directory. From there, we built it up to over 10 pages of links that go to sites that have content similar to our own. We started by simply linking to anything related to us. Now we are more fussy. We will only link to a site that will place a reciprocal link to us and we only link to sites that have quality content. (Yeah, it's a lot of work to maintain that small directory).

Online Directories
Getting listings in directories will not only boost your traffic, it will also increase your link popularity. It is especially relevant to link popularity because these directories are mega popular (remember the more popular a site is that links to you, the more popular your site will be rated).

Dynamic Link Promoter is a powerful tool to improve link popularity and help to promote their web site and link pages over the Internet. It will help you maintain your reciprocal links, generate new links from search engines, automatically send "Personalized" link invitation messages, track and verify your link partners, create link pages automatically and promote them. For more information about Dynamic Link Promoter, please click "Help/Dynamic Software on the Web" menu item.

Q:What shall I do after I create the doorway page?

A:After the doorway page is created, you need to Optimize your Doorway Page with Site Optimizer and upload them to your web server by using your FTP manager program. With Dynamic Submission, you can use the FTP Upload Clients feature to upload your new doorway page to your web server and later submit it to search engines. For more information on how to upload the page to your web server, see FTP Upload Clients.

Put all your pages in a folder on your server e.g. /your-domain/(note, do NOT use the name "doorway" as folder name, please use the most important keyword as a sub-folder name). Then create 2 more pages that have a link and a small description to each of your doorways and to each other. These are called corridor pages because the spider travels down them, visiting each page linked off them. Call these 2 pages index and home and place them in the folder with your doorway pages. Then place links to these two pages from your main index page so that a spider will be able to find them and list all your doorways. You can place a "VISIBLE TEXT" link at the bottom of the main page (index page) of your website. Submit only your index page and your 2 corridor pages. Do not submit your doorways to the engines, search engine spider will automatically index these pages once they come to the corridor page.

Q:In Optimization report, I can enter up to 1000 characters for keyword Meta Tag. But in the site info of web profile, the character limit is 200, why?

A:The web site Profile details you enter in the program and the Meta tag of your web site are two different things. Although both have the title, keyword and description, the site info of your web site profile (see Enter Site Information for details) will be used for submission to Directory Engines like Dmoz.org while the Meta Tag details will be used for Spider search engines, like Google.

Q:Will I need to purchase a license in order to do multiple site submissions?

A:You don't need to purchase a license for multiple site submissions. Number of domains you can submit depends on the version you purchase.

HOWEVER, If you want to use Dynamic Submission to provide submission services for their clients, you need to purchase the Enterprise Version to do so.

Hi, just wanted to let you know that the software is working great for me. My traffic is slowly increasing (Due to FFA). I know it’ll take awhile before the submission to the bigger search engines become a reality. I know google itself has a 2-4 week waiting on their spoolers, then at least another 3-4 weeks before something is searchable. I’ve got my calendar set for monthly submissions to the search engines, and I am sending submissions to FFA (just for exposure) every two day. Well I haven’t been really happy with the support we were getting on the AddWeb product and the features were hard to use and confusing. They may have fixed that in newer versions but because of their support we didn’t upgrade any further. We tried your demo version and you guys seem to have taken most of the confusion out of the picture. The meta tag information that it builds is nice and also easy to use.
We are a Web Design/Hosting firm and offer our customers free search engine submission. They are often complaining about their rankings but because we offer it for free there’s not much they can say.
